why don't you ever see elephants hiding in gooseberry bushes?
because they're so damn good at it!
13 : 10 : 09 CLUD presents The Crystal Daze on 27th November!
After screams and stomping aplenty at our Halloween party not long ago, CLUD brings you another epic indoor festival at The Welsh Club. This time the theme is based on the legendary 90s gameshow, 'The Crystal Maze.' We will be transforming the venue into a mind-warping UV spin on the different zones of the game, and that's not to mention the wide variety of very tasty music and fun and games to get involved in!
Upstairs will be our Future-Industrial stomping Dance Floor, based around a giant crystal dome. Expect Blasting Hi-Energy Psytrance with a dashing of grinding cybernetic beats n bass, plus dazzling lasers, lights and UV decor.
Downstairs awaits our Interactive Alternative Room. The chai cafe area will be decorated in an Aztec style, with DJs playing Swirling World Beats, Quirky Electronica and Chunky Dub. The Deep Chill and Art Corner will be in a mellow underwater style, with dreamy visual projections to unwind to. There will be all sorts of challenges and puzzles based on the original TV show to get involved in, as well as our usual face-painting, story-sharing and interactive artwork.
This is not an event to be missed, it will truly be a festival in a club with fantastic music and visual production, and plenty of chances to join in!
Advance tickets are £8 from www.clud.co.uk and doors open at 10pm. Dress Futuristic, Aztec, Underwater or Medieval
21 : 09 : 09 CLUD on 30th October!
Halloween is soon to come, when the Mortal World and the Realm of Black Magic elide, the one night when humans and the supernatural freely mingle. At the Witching Hour of Friday the 30th of October CLUD will be opening the gates of Faerie for one night of Psychedelic Pandemonium. Our usual custom-made elaborate fluro decor will transform Clwb Ifor Bach into an unholy lost temple set in a demon-haunted forest. Upstairs expect to be intoxicated by some seriously twisted, spine-tinglingly spooky trance rhythms and dark and dirty psychedelic beats. When you fancy a break from the stomping dance floor you can explore our chill out audio-visual environment, which will feature interactive visuals and music, market stalls, chai cafe, face painting, collaborative art installations, all floating on a swirling sea of scintillating ambient electronica and blissed-out dub. Supernatural fancy dress is seriously advised!
We will be selling half of our tickets in advance, leaving at least 100 to sell on the door. We want to make sure that early-comers with no tickets can get in on the night, to avoid the hassle and disappointment our limited capacity caused last time. Whether you're buying a ticket or turning up on the night, make sure you get in early as demand is high and capacity limited!
Lineup:
CLUD residents Brother Bear and Pickle start the party off with a back to back set of the filthiest, acid-drenched psy-breaks and dark, deep and grinding electrotech. Brother Bear will be dropping in some of the material from his own recent, top-secret, dancefloor-destroying Crunkafunk project, so this is definitely a set to listen out for...
CLUD will be playing host to Cheryl TechnoMedics and Skyhighatrist, the two bods behind the Fatmoon parties up-north and newly launched Catawampus Records. Skyhighatrist will play live set of his own material, a sound he calls "twisted psilocybic mindfunk" - a trippy elixir that makes you move your feet (and everything else...) Cheryl's DJ set will weave her own twist of the label's tunes, exploding with infectious energy and psychedelic frivolity. myspace.com/catawampusrecords
Woef, one of the key organisers of the much-loved Indigo Children parties and Newfoundland fesitval will be making the trip down from Mid-Wales to play at CLUD. Watch out for some of the beautiful Indigo Children drapes decorating Clwb on the night! newfoundlandfestival.org.uk
Dargor, aka Psy Matt will be playing out for the second time ever; he might not be a veteran DJ but his Psy collection would take a week to listen to, so expect the sweetest tunes from him.
12 : 05 : 09 Launch of Professional Repair Services Cardiff
I thought I'd point out on this site that Dan has just launched his own professional equipment repair service. Personally we cannot recommend him enough... we have known him repair CDJs even after they have taken flight from the DJ booth across the dancefloor, had a pint dropped on them from the balcony above, and all the other things that obviously never happen at our parties :-) Check out his website at http://www.prscardiff.co.uk/ and give him a call if you have some faulty kit, his prices are very reasonable!
07 : 04 : 09 CLUD at Triban Spring Gathering 1st-3rd May 09
From 1st-3rd of May, CLUD are off to the wonderful Triban Spring Gathering, a mini-festival held at Coed Hills Rural Artspace near Cowbridge. For those of you who don't know Triban... well imagine CLUD did an acoustic/folk event, and it would be like that: the same atmosphere and attention to detail but with more traditional music. Although no less mental. The Spring Gathering will also include a circus tent this year and Peaceful Progress will be bringing their friendly brand of dub-reggae with them.
Having said that about the music, we'll be taking some DJs with us so there might just be the odd bit of psy here and there, and also the ChillDubDeepHouse jamming workshop will be making its second appearance, bringing electronic improvisation within reach of anyone who is up for it. So if you're free that weekend we strongly recommend you come and play with us :-) More at www.triban.org.
13 : 03 : 09 CLUD at NFL Festival 4th-6th September 09

...and we're all as excited as you are! See our e-flyer here, then hurry to get your tickets here.
12 : 08 CLUD!
And there shall be CLUD.
Put the date in your diaries: Friday 13th February, lucky for CLUDdites! If you're the type who needs time to recover, block out the whole weekend because CLUD is back in Clwb Ifor Bach! Room 1 stomping psytrance, psybreaks and freeform; room 2 chillout, interactive music/art, face painting and all the usual CLUD mayhem.
Lineup TBA, watch here, or join our mailing list or facebook group for further news.
Merry CLUDmas one and all, doof doof doof! :-)

Hooray, it's a crazy experimental electronic jamming session... come along and join the fun! All abilities welcome.
Comprehensive instructions for people who don't know the first thing about making music! Freedom of artistic expression for those who are already musically ept! (That's the opposite of inept by the way). Four keyboards, one mic, two midi controllers, one computer pre-loaded with beats and effects.
This is being run as part of the Milgi art club Christmas party, so other fun activities will be available on the night, as well as Milgi lounge's awesome cocktail selection. See you there.
20 : 8 : 08 - A party, a festival and a rig
Greetings CLUDdites! Some news for you...
CRITICAL MASS PSYTRANCE PARTY THIS SATURDAY
Firstly, our mates Critical Mass are running a psy party THIS SATURDAY 23rd at TAFOD in Cardiff, from 9pm-3am though there is an afterparty as well. CLUD's own resident Brother Bear, and our former guest HY-DRA will be spinning some tunes alongside Dr Nitrogen and others so get on down there!
More info here
PEACEFUL PROGRESS 3 DAY FESTIVAL NEXT WEEKEND
Secondly, we've made some new friends over at Peaceful Progress who are running a 3-day minifestival over at the Lansdown Hotel and Gardens in Canton next weekend 29th-31st August. Three days of live dub and live bands alongside other craziness, and CLUD is helping out a little behind the scenes. They're all a cool and chilled bunch of people much like you lot, so we reckon it's well worthwhile going!
More info here
THE NEW CLUD RIG
Thirdly, CLUD now has access to its own sound system, approaching 8 kilowatts of quality doofage, to ensure super turbo charged stomping power at our future parties. Actually we've had it a while (some of you will have encountered the wall of sound at a house party or two...) but we thought we'd let you know now to show we've not been doing nothing! Also We will be able to hire the system out to other funky party people on occasion so please get in touch if you're ever in need of a bass fix.
THE NEXT CLUD
And finally... the wheels ARE in motion for another CLUD... we promise. It's coming.
14 : 1 : 08 - Artwork by Ashley Stone
Hey, exciting news from one of our mates. Those of you who were at the first Clud might remember Ash and his artwork that was on display there. He's not currently in the U.K. but his new website has just been launched, and you can see his fantastic pieces and buy prints there. Go to www.ashley-stone.co.uk.
16 : 11 : 07 - Important notice, change of closing time
We at Clud are extremely sorry to announce that our party on the 23rd of November will now be going on until 4am rather than 6am. When our venue (Q-Bar) was in the process of opening the owners mistakenly obtained a public entertainments licence from the council which did not allow them to host musical events. This went unnoticed until they were raided by the police last Saturday. For a while it looked like Clud would have to be cancelled, however through a great deal of effort an agreement was reached with the police allowing Q-Bar to obtain a temporary licence for Clud. Part of the conditions of this licence was that the venue would only be allowed to stay open until 4am. We would like to apologise for this disappointment, this has been a massive blow for us as well. We were really looking forward to partying all the way through the night, as the 4am licence was one of the few complaints about previous Clud events. We will offer full refunds to anyone who has already purchased a ticket and cannot attend due to the change in closing time. Please email us at clud@clud.co.uk.
